Love is When I Stay

Some old words, from 4 summers ago:

There again is my vulnerability.  I've been taught that there is shame in laying it on the line.  Not having that mirror there makes it feel even worse.  The word naked comes to mind.  I feel like I'm naked, and ugly, for the whole world to see.  And I want to run to numb that feeling.  To stuff it down, keep it away in that moment.  But, I think that love is in that moment and love is when I stay.

Notice.
Tight.
Closed.
Accept.
Feel.
Lean in.
Move away.
Run.
Far.
Hide.
Rejected.
Dark.
Stay.  Just a minute.
Breathe.
Soften.
Comfort.  
Light.
Love.

The Insatiable Beast

I was doing some reading recently, and came upon the question:  "If your food cravings had a name or personality, what would you call them?"  The author was hoping to get me to identify an image in my mind comes up when I feel that desire to fill up past the point of satisfaction.  You know what I'm talking about, right?  When the needle "full-meter" is at the F (or even a little bit past it!), but the hand still goes to the mouth.  When that utopian (aka magical and non-existent) point of "comfortably satiated" was long since ignored, yet chewing and swallowing have yet to cease.  I could readily identify with this desire to eat that didn't seem to correlate to physical hunger; but, I was having trouble coming up with a name or personality or image for it. When you look at me, I don't think it makes sense to you why I feel like I do.  The disparity between what goes on inside my head and what you see on the outside is vast and wide.  Depending on how well we know each other, it's possible that my inner misery is a mystery to you.  But, more than likely, I'm the only one I've been fooling as far as hiding my pain away.
